I'm 10 years old, and I'm divorced

Yemen is a country steeped in conservatism and ancestral traditions.
Love knows no age here — this phrase is more relevant than ever, because girls are married off before they turn 10.
Such are the fates of many Yemeni women. This was supposed to be Nujood's fate.
She does not know exactly how old she is, 8 or 10 — her mother does not remember when she gave birth to her. But one day the girl learns that her childhood is over: Nujood needs to get married so that her family has something to live on.
“One hungry mouth less,” says the father, and the mother obediently agrees — in the East, women have no voice.
The girl is to marry a man three times her age. Then comes pain, humiliation, violence. But one day she decided to break this cycle. And she succeeded.
