Daytime Butterflies of Central Russia. Photo Identifier

The book introduces readers to all species of daytime butterflies found in the Central Federal District of Russia. More than 160 essays contain detailed information about the distribution in the region and typical habitats of each species, data on the population and life cycle of its representatives, names of host plants for caterpillars, but most importantly— they indicate the characteristics that allow distinguishing this butterfly from similar species. Author's photographs taken in nature will help identify the insect in its natural habitat. Not only the most important species differences are illustrated but also discrepancies in the coloration of males and females or intraspecies forms. The photo identifier is intended for a wide audience of readers and can be used in practical classes in schools, universities, and other educational institutions, in projects on ecotourism, and when conducting field naturalist excursions.
