Imitation

Ilia Korolev is an ordinary nineteen-year-old guy, a conservatory student. He has a friend, a girlfriend, family, and hobbies. Above all, Ilia loves to play the piano, although he understands that he is unlikely to become a virtuoso pianist. His otherwise normal life is overshadowed by two memories: how he got lost in a mirror maze at an amusement park in his childhood, and how his father went missing. One day, Ilia finds a candy with a riddle on the inside of the wrapper, and this coincidence suddenly triggers a series of strange events. Ilia increasingly feels that he is actually someone else, that he is playing someone else's role. He has nightmares, and his mother and sister behave as if he is unwell. Will Ilia be able to accept the frightening truth about himself? 'Imitation' is an unexpected combination of a coming-of-age story and a psychological thriller, sometimes frightening with its dreamlike irrealism and plausibility at the same time.
