The Diaries of Baron Eduard Toll. Russian Polar Expedition 1900 - 1902.

In 1900, the famous polar explorer E. V. Toll embarked on his last expedition – in search of the legendary Sannikov Land. The Russian polar expedition on the yacht "Zarya" lasted two years, and during this time Toll kept a diary in his native German language. The last entry in it is dated June 3, 1902, when Toll, with three companions, left the vessel and headed toward Bennett Island, hoping to approach the coveted Sannikov Land. They reached the island, but their trail disappears thereafter. A rescue expedition led by A. V. Kolchak yielded no results. The mystery of Toll and his companions' demise remains unsolved to this day.
