The Shoe was unfortunate to be born a shagat; its fate is to be at the beck and call of the noble aris, blessed by the grace of the Original Wheel. The aris are the wisest people on earth, and for their exceptional intellect, they are blessed to move exclusively in chairs. Physical work is performed by ones like the Shoe, and if they oppose, they will be crushed by the sacred Rim. When Tapok, the Shoe's friend, is sentenced to execution by wheeling, the shagat embarks on a perilous journey through forbidden lands to save his friend and uncover the dark secrets of the shattered world. He faces difficult trials, encounters hostile clans, and struggles for survival, where every decision is a step on the edge of a knife. When the boundaries between good and evil blur, only the shagat can discover the truth and change the course of history.
