From the Theory of Thinking to the Theory of Activity

This book presents lectures delivered by the author in 1965 at a seminar on the logic of science and engineering at MEPhI, as well as his reports at a structural systems seminar. By studying them sequentially, one can understand the full picture of the development of views of the Moscow Methodological Circle, which developed the so-called substantial-genetic logic. By studying the legacy of ancient philosophers and scientists, transitioning to the thinking of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, and considering the complex picture of the Modern era intertwined with contemporary times, the members of the circle created a theory of thinking, and then a theory of activity.

The appendix contains unique, previously unpublished materials on the evolution of the research programs on thinking of the Moscow Methodological Circle. The book is part of the multi-volume publication "The Teachings of Georgy Shchedrovitsky." This collection of works presents the author's legacy for the first time in the most complete and systematic form and is accompanied by scientific apparatus.
