Yuri Lyubimov: The Path to the Master

The director of the legendary Moscow Taganka Theater, Yuri Petrovich Lyubimov, staged numerous truly cult performances. A special place among his works is occupied by the stage adaptation of «The Master and Margarita» — the «twilight» novel by Mikhail Afanasyevich Bulgakov. The book, based on the diary entries of Leila Alexander-Garrett, who worked as a translator and assistant to Lyubimov at the London Covent Garden and at the Royal Dramatic Theater in Stockholm, recounts the rehearsals for the play «The Master and Margarita» in October-December 1988.
