Founded in 1953, La Borde clinic is a famous experiment in the history of psychiatry, a place where its co-founder Félix Guattari broke away from the tradition of isolating the mentally ill. But for a child whose parents worked there, it was an incredible world of freedom: a castle, a huge park, forests, and ponds.
Emmanuelle's work is not a tragic chronicle, but a lively, ironic, and piercing perspective from a girl named Manu on a world where at lunch they could discuss Lacan, and in the evening, with a group of kids, other children of doctors, they could roll together in compost mud.
