36 Chinese stratagems...
— the key to success in all matters of life, a convenient and effective guide for business and personal relationships. Understanding these strategies allows one to see the hidden motives behind people's actions and to anticipate the development of events.
In China, several centuries before our era, the development of strategic plans — stratagems became a practice. Stratagems became a secret national treasure. They contain traps or tricks for the opponent. However, cunning in China was not considered an unambiguously negative trait — on the contrary, the ability to use stratagems was valued as a manifestation of wisdom and art of governance.
Necessary conditions for designing and successfully implementing stratagems include:
- the ability to calculate moves and foresee their consequences;
- knowledge of the psychological characteristics of those against whom the plan is targeted;
- the determination of the plan's author in implementing the stratagem.
Each stratagem is accompanied by historical and literary examples: classical Chinese works, writings of Confucius, Sun Tzu, Mao Zedong, as well as works of Western thinkers.
In the second part (stratagems 19—36), examples illustrating certain aspects of a stratagem were shortened. Outdated political materials and pages specifically aimed at the German-speaking audience were removed.
