Foreigner

"Foreigner" — a story about emigration, written in a characteristic ironic manner by Dovlatov.
The plot unfolds in a Russian neighborhood in New York. The main heroine, Marunya Tatarovich, a girl from a good Soviet family, had no visible reason to leave the USSR, but at some point, it seemed to her that "everything had already happened," and she, along with her son, landed at Kennedy Airport.
Over time, her hopes for a change in life crumble, feelings of despair emerge, and an unexpected desire to return home arises. And the question increasingly arises: "Was it worth traveling such a distance for this?.."
