Welcome to Hamburg! Take on the role of influential citizens in the free Hanseatic city of Hamburg in the 1890s, each striving for one goal — to become the mayor. To achieve this, contribute to the development and prosperity of the city by enhancing your influence and status.
Prepare construction sites, erect buildings on them, arrange parks and a zoo, and restore city walls. The buildings you construct will earn you money, victory points, and the opportunity to use their beneficial effects. The player who scores the most victory points wins.

“Hamburg” — is the first game in the series of games “City Collection” by Stefan Feld, a true maestro in the world of board games.

In “Hamburg” you will play cards from your hand, using them to perform various actions, some of which also depend on the values rolled on the colored dice at the beginning of the round. The key feature of the game, according to the author, lies in the multifunctional use of cards and the unpredictability of the dice rolls. To win the game, you need to harmoniously develop your part of the city in various areas: build useful buildings, monitor the levels of various threats, advance on the town hall square, and keep an eye on what is happening in the church and in the opponents’ play areas.

For those who wish to diversify the game even more, the box contains 6 small expansions that provide a new gaming experience, as well as the rules for solo mode.

How to play?
The game lasts for 8 seasons. At the end of the 8th season, the final score is calculated.
Each season consists of 4 phases.

Phase I: Card Acquisition
1. Draw cards until you have 5 cards in your hand.
2. Activate the effects of “Park” category cards, if you have any.

Phase II: Dice Actions
1. Roll all 6 dice and place them in the corresponding cells on Lake Binnenalster.
2. Send the priest to the church.
3. Raise the levels of corresponding threats for each value of “5” and “6” rolled on all dice except the black one. Take sudden threat tokens if the black die shows a value of “5” or “6”.
4. Advance tokens on the town hall square by 1 space (paying the cost).

Phase III: Performing Standard Actions
This phase consists of 4 rounds. Each round, players play 1 card from their hand and use it to perform 1 of 6 standard actions.
- Take 3 workers
- Take coins
- Lower the threat level by 1 and gain 1 VP
- Build 1 section of the wall
- Prepare 1 construction site (back side of the card)
- Build 1 building (front side of the card)
Some actions depend on the color of the chosen card and the value on the respective colored die.

Phase IV: End of the Season
1. Check all 5 supremacy conditions.
2. Move the priest to the floor of the church and reassemble the time tokens as during the game setup.
3. Remove all activation tokens from your cards.
4. Pass the first-player token to the participant sitting to your left.

After the 8th season concludes, the game ends, and the final score calculation begins. Each player receives additional VPs based on certain criteria (for cards in the player’s play area, for buildings with “end game” effects, for active supremacy tokens, for walls and sculptures, for priest effects, for tokens on the town hall square). The player with the most victory points wins and becomes the new mayor of the free Hanseatic city of Hamburg.
