Board game - Patchwork

It is quite a competitive game, suitable for both girls and boys of all ages, not just for grandmothers and creative young people, as it may seem from the box. In it, you actually "sew" a patchwork quilt and try to do it faster and better than your opponent. You can buy patches, but the movements on the board are unusual and clever. In general, Patchwork challenges all two-player board games because it is a very beautiful, simple, yet engaging game.

How to sew a quilt?

Each of you has your own base board. In the center of the table is the time board. Your player pieces move on it — they are real buttons! And around it are the patches that you need to "sew" to your boards. On your turn, you can do two things of your choice:

• Just move forward. This is interesting. Unlike regular games where there is a track with a start and finish, there is no dice here to determine how many steps you should move forward. The rule is simple: only the player who is closer to the start can move forward, and they must jump over or land on the same square as their opponent. For each square you pass, you get a button.
• Buy a patch and sew it to the base. Somewhere in the middle of the ring with patches is a thimble. By the way, buttons and a thimble are only in the Russian version; in others, they are just wooden pieces. So you’re lucky! The choice of patches depends on the position of this thimble. Mysterious? How to win in Patchwork?

Sew a quilt larger than your opponent's before you both reach the end of the time board. That is, in this game, the winner is not the one who reaches the finish line first; on the contrary, players try to delay this moment to buy as many patches as possible. And the patches are cunning; they are like pieces of Tetris or a puzzle: you need to fit them together in such a way that they form a quilt without overlapping.

What is "patchwork"?

It is an English term for patch sewing. From pieces of fabric, leather, and wool, you can create quilts, panels, and even clothing. And all of it turns out beautiful, unusual, cozy, and unique. So besides those who love simple, calm, and beautiful games, it is worth gifting to those who are into handicrafts.
