Board Game - Amalfi. Renaissance

«Amalfi. Renaissance» — is a strategic board game by Japanese game designer Takeo Yamada, reissued in 2020 with the addition of new mechanics. Participants take on the roles of merchants in the Renaissance era to restore the once-lost glory of the abandoned port city of Amalfi.

Amalfi – a coastal city located in the Italian province of Salerno, has a very ancient history. From the 9th to the 12th century, it was the capital of a powerful maritime republic in Europe, but on November 25, 1343, its entire coastal area was destroyed by a devastating tsunami, after which its economy fell into decline. Nevertheless, time has preserved the memory of the city's former greatness, and during the Renaissance, many noble families decide to revive it.

Participants in the game «Amalfi» will be transported to the 15th century, where as members of merchant families, they will pave their way to honor and fame while trying to restore Amalfi's lost power. Send your ships east, taking care of the sailors, establish new trade routes, gain the support of renowned figures of the time, serve influential persons faithfully, acquire masterpieces of art and significant titles, and success will be guaranteed.

Gameplay:

A game of «Amalfi Renaissance» lasts 4 rounds, each consisting of 3 phases: 

1. Action Phase – the main phase of the round. In it, players send their ships on voyages, explore new routes, purchase masterpieces, attract and activate famous characters, and build ships.

2. Feeding Phase, in which players must feed the sailors on their ships by paying the specified amount of bread units on the player board.

3. Decrees Phase, which grants players victory points for fulfilling the conditions of the city council's decrees.

After the fourth round, players begin to tally their victory points, and the player with the highest number becomes the winner.
