The timeless wisdom of India has found its expression in the Vedas - ancient Sanskrit texts that encompass all areas of human knowledge. Originally, the Vedas were passed down orally; five thousand years ago, they were first recorded by Srila Vyasa - the "literary incarnation of God". After composing the Vedas, Vyasa outlined their essence in aphorisms known as the "Vedanta-sutras". The "Srimad-Bhagavatam" ("Bhagavata Purana") is Vyasa's commentary on his own "Vedanta-sutras". It was written during the author's spiritual maturity under the guidance of Narada Muni, his spiritual teacher. The "Srimad-Bhagavatam", referred to as the "ripe fruit of the tree of Vedic literature", is the most complete and authoritative presentation of Vedic knowledge.

Translated and commented upon is the main work of Srila Krishna Das Kaviraj Goswami, narrating the life of Sri Krishna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, the great saint and religious reformer of medieval India.
