The publication dedicated to the illustration of children's periodicals from the Soviet era is based on the materials from the collection of Nina and Vadim Ginzburg. It includes over a thousand illustrations for magazines and almanacs such as "Kostyor", "Murzilka",... "Pioneer", "All Year Round", "Kolobok", and many others, for which the best artists of the country were invited to work at different periods - from the 1930s to the end of the 1990s. It was they, in collaboration with writers, poets, and editorial staff, who created a unique phenomenon - Soviet children's magazines, some of which still exist today. The diversity of themes and plots in magazine sections - from funny stories and engaging puzzles to scientific essays and experiments - spawned a variety of artistic explorations by illustrators, which is reflected in the historical retrospective of magazine illustration. The heritage of Soviet children's magazine graphics, a unique phenomenon in the history of world art - is not just a vast array of outstanding artistic material, not just the trajectories of searches and discoveries by hundreds of celebrated and lesser-known masters, but also a panorama of the publishing process across the country. After all, Moscow, Leningrad, and dozens of regional publishing houses were points of attraction for creative forces and transmitters of graphic culture to the masses.
