Dreams

The famous German philosopher, sociologist, music theorist, and composer Theodor W. Adorno (1903 – 1969) recorded his dreams for the last twenty-five years of his life. The disparate ‘protocols’ of dreams are united by certain motifs: death, sex, execution, violence, images of loved ones and acquaintances, references to works of art, etc. Adorno does not interpret his dreams, but occasionally notes: ‘There’s something here for the analyst to work with,’ — he fearlessly gives the reader the right to interpret the candid, sometimes funny, sometimes terrifying, but invariably vivid images from his subconscious on their own.
