Yuri Nikiforovich Danilov — a military leader, general of infantry, one of the main developers of strategic operations of the Russian army in 1914–1915. Author of military-historical works dedicated to the participation of the Russian army in World War I. His book is dedicated to Grand Duke Nikolai Nikolaevich the Younger, the first Russian Supreme Commander-in-Chief, who played his role in the events of the last reign. A person who stood at the head of a vast five-million army, a man who had the responsibility of protecting a vast state. Through the ranks of this army, during the time of the Grand Duke's command, millions of people passed, gathered from all corners of Russia. Many contemporaries considered Nikolai Nikolaevich a possible leader of Russian statehood, but he did not become one. Nevertheless, he entered the history of our state as a prominent figure of a tragic era.
