This work tells the story of the grand journey to the Western lands for Buddhist sutras undertaken by the... monk Xuanzang and his companions: the Monkey King Sun Wukong, the half-man half-pig Zhu Bajie, and the demon Sha Seng. Along the way, the heroes encounter numerous demons and magical beings, as well as endure many trials.
