Neville Chamberlain: The Gentleman with an Umbrella

The book is about the youngest member of the famous Chamberlain dynasty - Neville (1869-1940), who managed to rise to the pinnacle of power in the British Empire - becoming Prime Minister. This Chamberlain, nicknamed «The Gentleman with an Umbrella», flew to meet Hitler three times in September 1938 and essentially persuaded him to sign the Munich Agreement, believing he was guaranteeing «peace for our generation». And it was this Chamberlain who, eleven months later, would turn the German-Polish conflict into World War II. Historian Morgana Devlin, who has spent many years studying the politics of the British Empire, presents a fundamentally new book for the Russian reader - the first biography of N. Chamberlain in Russian, based on his diaries, personal letters, records, and memoirs of those around him.
