Death Under a Carnival Mask

During the New Year holidays, Colonel Lev Gurov learns about the death of an old friend, Vasily Terekhin. He was found hanged in his office at the height of a home party. Gurov is convinced that it is murder. The ladies' favorite Terekhin, who made a successful career in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, had no reasons for suicide. It turns out that among the hired staff was a person not listed in the roster. Who he is and where he then disappeared to is unknown: due to the festive conditions, all participants were wearing carnival masks. The search for the mysterious stranger leads the detectives to a dark trail that has followed the prosperous family for many years…
