In the early 20th century, among many incomprehensible and beautiful things happening in the culture of our country, perhaps the most surprising was the emergence of a whole array of incredibly talented female avant-garde artists: Elena Guro, Nadezhda Udaltsova, Lyubov Popova, Natalia Goncharova, Vera Mukhina, Vera Pestel, Olga Rozanova, and their inheritors Vera Ermolaeva, Pelageya Shurigi, and Vera Zenkovich.
