Frédéric Sullyé is a French writer, playwright, and journalist of the Romantic era, one of the brightest and most underrated literators of his time. During his lifetime, he competed in popularity with such authors as Alexandre Dumas and Honoré de Balzac, however, his name is less known today than the names of his famous contemporaries. For centuries, heirs of the baronial family de Luicci have concluded a mysterious pact with the Devil. According to its terms, the Lord of Darkness serves them for exactly ten years. This period is given to prove to him: true happiness is achievable, and thus the ancestral curse can be lifted forever. Now it is the turn of the young Baron François Armand. He is about to enter into this mystical deal. From now on, to fulfill any desire, it is enough to ring a silver bell - and the Devil himself will appear before him.
