Vendetta. The Story of One Forgotten

1884, Naples is struck by a cholera epidemic. Count Fabio Romani is happily married to his beautiful wife Nina in a magnificent villa among orange groves. One morning, while walking along the harbor, he suddenly falls into a coma for... unknown reasons, but those around him think he has also died of cholera. After some time, Fabio wakes up in a coffin, in the family tomb of the Romani family. He manages to escape from the tomb and rushes home to his wife and son. But instead of a warm reunion, he accidentally overhears a conversation between Nina and his friend Guido, who turn out to be not grieving for him at all, but rejoicing at his death, since now he will not interfere with their affair. Fabio's heart is broken; he decides to take revenge on them and goes into hiding. Six months later, a mysterious Count Cesare Oliva appears in society - an influential and attractive man, evoking admiration and curiosity. Initially, the author named the novel "Buried Alive", but the publisher insisted on the more intriguing title "Vendetta. The Story of One Forgotten". Due to the similarity in themes of betrayal and meticulously planned revenge, the work is often compared to "The Count of Monte Cristo"
