House on the Line of Fire. A Chronicle of the Russian Invasion in Donbass

Born in Kramatorsk and educated as a medic, Dmitry Durneiv combined hospital work with journalism in the late 1990s and became one of the most renowned authors in his native Donbass by the early 2000s. Since 2014, Durneiv has been among the few independent journalists in the region who had the opportunity to report from the "DNR" and from those settlements that remained under Ukrainian control.

"House on the Line of Fire" is a story from the perspective of a fearless man who has been in both prisons and high offices, who knows the value of compromises and human relationships, who until the last moment stayed in his home, but even after being forced to leave, did not stop loving it. The book provides a complete and vivid picture of life in Donbass in the 21st century: clan wars and property division, economic boom and political division, and after 2014—dual power, the puppet regime of the "DNR" with its mundane absurdities and terrible repressions, and finally, the occupation and complete destruction of the region by Russian troops.
