1969, Saigon.
 
The devastating war is gaining momentum, and two sisters, Chang and Khuynh, wishing to help their parents pay off... debts, leave their native village and get jobs as waitresses in a capital bar. But in the big city, the naive girls are met with harsh reality: to earn money, they will have to learn not only the English language but also the art of "comforting" American soldiers! With doll-like smiles shining outward, while internally gritting their teeth, the sisters entertain the soldiers until the older of the girls meets Dan, a sweet helicopter pilot from the USA. A true passion ignites between the young people instantly...
 
Decades later, American veteran Dan Ashland flies to Vietnam with his wife Linda to confront the ghosts of the past, and this journey will turn his entire life upside down.
