Russian Impressionists

In 1903, Moscow painters and representatives of the Petersburg "World of Art" united to form the Union of Russian Artists. Among the members of this union were many so-called Russian impressionists – painters who combined the traditions of domestic psychological realism with a unique worldview and their own pictorial language that emerged in French art in the 1860s-1870s. The merging of these two artistic elements gave rise to the brightest, unique phenomenon of Russian Impressionism with its intelligent, soulful aesthetics that managed to touch the most secret strings of the soul of nature and man.

The book traces the fates of the first Russian impressionists who celebrated the bright joy of existence and gifted art lovers the happiness of touching the beautiful. Many hardships and troubles fell upon these artists, but despite the circumstances, they continued to embrace life with love through their art.
