The History of the Pugachev Rebellion
For three years, the author meticulously studied archival materials and documents. In 1833, he embarked on a trip to the sites of the rebellion, interviewing elderly eyewitnesses and collecting legends about Pugachev. The result of this research was the scholarly work "The History of Pugachev," whose censor was none other than the All-Russian Emperor Nicholas I, who demanded the book be renamed "The History of the Pugachev Rebellion."
