During the reconstruction of an ancient monastery, a ritual murder occurs – the victim's tongue is torn out and their eyes are gouged out. Major Timofey Koltsov is leading the investigation. A few months later, similar crimes occur, and the main clue becomes a bird's foot on a shoelace.
