The Taiga Will Take You

Moving from the Black Sea coast to a northern village lost among the woods seems like a nightmare to Varya. But her mother is sure: the change of climate will help her terminally ill son Slava. In the village, children go missing, and there are rumors of an impending ritual that occurs every twelve years. Then it becomes clear: she does not rely on traditional medicine at all. Varya begins to be tormented by nightmares, while a terrifying creature haunts Slava, to which he becomes attached, and this frightens her even more. She tries to raise the alarm, but her efforts are in vain: the hair on her brother's head is graying, and his eyes are losing color – just like the monsters that come from the taiga.
