Cat's Cradle

A brilliant scientist, who once participated in the creation of the atomic bomb, in his later years presented humanity with another "gift" – a miracle substance codenamed ice-nine. Just one tiny shard is enough to trigger an uncontrollable freezing reaction of water even in the summer heat. The military department considers the invention very promising – as now heavy machinery will be able to easily move across the swampy soils of the jungle. And everything would be fine, if it weren’t threatening to turn the Earth into an icy sphere…
