Silver Axolotl

Axolotl — a messenger, a clown, a monster. A formidable deity and a harbinger of misfortune, a guide for the deceased into the realm of eternal rest. But one day, the spawn of Axolotl, its dreadful child, will be born, become hungry, and destroy everything and everyone to bring about the end of times. And according to the ancient Aztec calendar, this very apocalypse is already just around the corner.

The author's voice, Anna Starobinets, is reminiscent of the melody of the Pied Piper of Hamelin — enchanting, frightening, and irrationally attractive.
