The book includes three screen novellas by the magnificent creative duo Eldar Ryazanov and Emil Braginsky, which formed the basis of comedies that have become part of the gold fund of domestic cinema: «Garage», «Old Men-Robbers», «Zigzag of Luck».
Eldar Ryazanov... recalled his work with Braginsky: «In our scripts and plays, Braginsky and I tried to make the humorous and descriptive part, not just dialogues. We hoped (perhaps in vain!) that our compositions for cinema and theater would not only be performed by artists but also read by the public. In any case, we believed that a play and a screenplay are a full-fledged form of literature, not requiring any concessions. And an author writing for cinema or theater must treat words with the same care and responsibility as a prose writer.» Time has proven that the hopes of the co-authors were not in vain. Their screen novellas are not just the script base for comedies but complete literary works capable of captivating the most demanding reader.
