Now any citizen with a good income could easily buy a car and speed along the expanding network of highways in the USA. Does this... mean that all paths are open to you now? Of course not! For there are places in the world that an ordinary person should avoid at all costs. Places where isolated inhabitants have been keeping terrible secrets from generation to generation. Who knows what lurks behind the tightly shut shutters of the houses whizzing by? And what dangers await the unfortunate traveler around the next bend of the desolate highway?
Dark Secrets
The tabletop book "Deathly Light and Other Dark Stories" contains two gaming scenarios for "Call of Cthulhu," as well as six story hooks that the game master can use and develop on their own. In the scenario "Deathly Light," the detectives are in for an unexpected but fateful meeting with a frightened girl. She leads the detectives on the trail of a horrific crime that has gone awry. In the second scenario "Saturn's Square," the detectives unexpectedly find themselves in the middle of the road with an empty gas tank. The lone house where the heroes hoped to find help becomes a deadly trap for them. Both scenarios can be incorporated into a larger campaign or used as standalone adventures.
