The classic of American literature, Nobel Prize laureate, Ernest Hemingway was and remains one of the most read authors in the world. His popularity stems primarily from the novels «The Sun Also Rises», «A Farewell to Arms!», «For Whom the... Bell Tolls», «A Moveable Feast», but he is also well known as a master of the short story. Hemingway's creative style formed in the 1920s: conciseness, brevity of narration, intolerance to pathos and sentimentality — and at the same time an expansive thematic structure, lyrical subtext, and serious ethical issues. This manner was influenced by his work as a newspaper reporter and World War I, in which the writer participated. This edition includes two collections of his short stories — «In Our Time» and «Men Without Women», as well as the story «The Killers». All of them were written in the 1920s, and they define a key theme for Hemingway and moral credo — human dignity, the greatness of his spirit, unbroken by trials and defeats.
