Mamona and the Muses. Memories of Merchant Families of Old Moscow

Memories of Fyodor Vasilyevich Chelnokov (1866–1925) are published for the first time.

The manuscript, written in Berlin in 1921–1925, tells about the merchant families of old Moscow, known to the author since birth. Chelnokovs, Bakrushins, Tretyakovs, Botkins, Alexeyevs, Ilyins – the author focuses on more than 350 names among his relatives and friends.

The publication is accompanied by photographs taken by the memoirist's brother, Sergey Vasilyevich Chelnokov (1860–1924).
