Alone with oneself

Marcus Aurelius — the Roman Emperor of the "Golden Age", rightly called the "philosopher on the throne". He enjoyed undeniable success in late antiquity, and in the 16th century his authority was revived in European philosophical circles.

"Alone with oneself" —... this is Marcus Aurelius's reflections on duty, conscience, and spirit, an assessment of life from a philosophical-moral perspective. In his writings, the Roman Emperor urges to be guided by Stoic teachings, but also to develop it further, naming the leading principle in man not the soul, but reason, which must be brought into harmony with the nature of the whole, thus achieving apatheia.
Centuries later, Marcus Aurelius's advice remains relevant for the modern person, who is constantly in search of the meaning of life.
