Klim Ardashov. The Beginning. In the Shadow of the Pyramids

Autumn 1891. Before heading on a business trip to the East, Klim Ardashov arrives in Stavropol, where he learns that an original sketch by Leonardo da Vinci titled "The Martyrdom of Saint Sebastian" has been replaced in the local merchant's art gallery. Shortly thereafter, a musician — the first violin of the theater orchestra — commits suicide under rather strange circumstances. Ardashov will have to investigate these incidents not only on board the steamer sailing from Odessa to Alexandria but also in the capital of Egypt.
