An unknown man appears in a backwater town, whom the local officials take for a fearsome inspector from Petersburg. Panic is instant: bribes are hidden, the streets are swept, faces smile until it hurts the cheeks. But the "inspector" turns out to be an ordinary swindler – Khlestakov, who is delighted to enjoy unexpected power and attention. 

"Marriage" – an ironic story about the fear of marriage. The official Podkolesin wavers between the dream of family comfort and the fear of losing freedom. A matchmaker, friends, and a bride – all seem to push him toward the decisive step. But will it be taken? "

In "The Gamblers" everything revolves around deception, gambling, and psychological games. The card sharp Ikharev, wishing to get rich, finds himself caught in a trap of provincial swindlers.
