Praise to Sergius

The novel "Praise to Sergius" is dedicated to the grand figure of St. Sergius of Radonezh — a hermit, miracle worker, who was revered during his lifetime on par with the saints, as well as a historical figure who blessed Prince Dmitry Donskoy for the battle at Kulikovo Field. The writer and historian Dmitry Mikhaylovich Balashov, author of the famous historical cycle "Moscow Sovereigns," has repeatedly addressed the personality of Father Sergius, equally significant for both the spiritual and the secular, political history of the Russian state.
In the novel "Praise to Sergius," the author creates a rich and vivid image of the 14th-century world, against which the formation and spiritual feats of Sergius of Radonezh took place — a man who is, on one hand, exceptionally outstanding, and on the other hand, flesh of the flesh of that difficult and heroic era.
