Moscow — Petushki and Other Works

A collection of works by one of the iconic Russian writers of the 20th century — Venedikt Erofeev. World fame came to Venedikt Erofeev thanks to his famous poem "Moscow — Petushki," which has been translated into more than thirty languages. And although its hero — Venichka — never saw Red Square, he became truly popular, and the author himself is now recognized as a classic of 20th century Russian literature. However, Erofeev's creative legacy is not only the poem "Moscow — Petushki": it also includes "Notes of a Psychopath" (1956–1958), begun at the age of 17, the play "Walpurgis Night" (part of the planned but unfulfilled trilogy titled "Drai Nekhte"), and so-called small prose works, including an essay written during entrance exams to the institute and a brief autobiography. All this, as well as fragments from notebooks that Venedikt Erofeev kept since the late 1950s, and a short text — a recollection of entering the Vladimir Pedagogical Institute, are included in this edition, which will make a wonderful gift for fans of the writer.
