Stolypin

A documentary-historical novel about the Great Reformer Peter Stolypin (1862–1911), a bright personality, a man of tragic fate, who rose to the pinnacle of executive power in the Russian Empire, belongs to the pen of the famous writer and public figure S. Yu. Rybas. In a free and documentarily justified narrative, the author correlates the problems of the early last century (terrorism, degradation of the ruling elite, party discord, etc.) with contemporary issues, revealing the spirit of the time. Even after a hundred years, it is important for Russians to know not only about the civic and moral feat of this remarkable man but also about his prophetic view on the historical path of Russia, on establishing a strong state and constitutional foundation in the country. The book contains selected speeches of P. A. Stolypin delivered in the State Duma, circulars of the Department of Police, and valuable archival evidence.
