Paustovsky: Dissolver of Time

The biography of the writer Konstantin Georgievich Paustovsky (1892—1968), whose works are an endless fiesta of romanticism, deep world contemplation combined with an irreconcilable inner rebellion, is full of contradictions and unsaid truths. His image, formed in the minds of more than one generation of readers, is noticeably different from reality not only because of the "closeness" of his nature, but also because the autobiographical canvas woven by him is akin to creativity. Fate, as if testing for strength, challenged him multiple times, but each time it retreated before the power of his inner determination and unwillingness to adapt to the complex times. He never traded his talent, was a profound philosopher, understanding the soul of the Russian people, and a true patriot of his country.
In the presented book, for the first time, the life and creative path of Paustovsky are recreated as fully as possible. The author, Oleg Dmitrievich Trushin, followed his hero step by step through the pages of autobiographical prose, deeply contemplating the memories of contemporaries and thoroughly researching archival documents in order not to stray from the truth and extract the facts.
