Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky became the most famous and performed Russian composer in the world during his lifetime. Recognizing his own calling and gift early on, he steadfastly pursued his goal — music, in which he was absolutely candid and confessional. His life was filled with joys, tragedies, passions, and disappointments, and he was in constant search for answers to the "fateful questions of existence" about life and death, sin and forgiveness.
