Eldar Ryazanov

Eldar Ryazanov is primarily known in our country as an outstanding comedy writer and the creator of several enduring Soviet cinema masterpieces of the lyrical-comedic genre. However, the palette of his talents is much broader: he directed several absolutely serious... dramatic films, produced a number of entertaining television shows, published numerous books, wrote scripts, novellas, poems… Initially a documentary filmmaker, then a director of fiction films, a screen and theater playwright, prose writer, poet, TV host, educator, public figure, Ryazanov was a decisively renaissance-type individual. An author, writer, and film historian (known to readers for his biography of Leonid Gaidai), in his narrative he creates the image of an extraordinary, passionate, brilliant person and director who lived a long, fruitful life and left a huge creative legacy, mastering which is a pleasure.
