The biographies compiled in this volume were published about a hundred years ago as separate booklets in the series "The Lives of Remarkable People," produced by F. F. Pavlenkov (1839-1900). Written in a new genre for that time of poetic chronicle and historical-cultural study, these texts still retain informational and energy-psychological value to this day.
