Executioners of Hell. Lessons from the Khabarovsk Trial

Seventy years ago, the Khabarovsk trial took place. Nowadays, few remember it. Yet it revealed horrifying facts of cruelty and inhumanity. It was a true descent into the abyss and the underworld. In 1949, the "executioners of hell" were tried in Khabarovsk. They were accused of creating and using biological and chemical weapons capable of exterminating humanity. The Soviet Union made every effort to prevent the spread of this deadly "tsunami" not only in the Far East but around the world.
The subsequent trials, following the Nuremberg "trial of nations," the Tokyo and Khabarovsk trials, marked the definitive, victorious conclusion of World War II. A war that claimed the lives of over 50 million people.
The outcomes of these trials served as the foundation for developing new principles of international justice that underpinned the new world order, as well as the fundamental documents of the United Nations.
