Black Guardian

The ruler of the Duchy of Kanarn has been executed by the king's order. Chaos reigns in the captured capital, and the inhabitants suffer from hunger and disease, subjected to violence by the mercenaries of the royal army. Yet hope... remains: the duke's children, Lord Bromvi and Lady Bronwyn, have managed to escape death.
Finding themselves in a hostile land, Bromvi, pursued by the servants of the One God, attempts to reclaim his city with the help of the mysterious inhabitants of the Darkwald forest, a people of the outcasts. Lady Bronwyn finds refuge in an area called the Sea of Grass, among the people of the wounded, but the king's warriors are hot on her trail. Meanwhile, Algenon Sleza, the supreme chief of the distant northern land of Fiorlan, directs a fleet of drakkars against the army of the Knights of the Red Order. A bloody fratricidal Long War begins.
