The History of Buddhism in India

"The History of Buddhism in India" was written in 1608 by the outstanding master of the Jonang tradition, Jetsun Tarañtha (1575-1634). This book is one of the most important sources on the history of the spread and development of Buddhism in India. The author presents events in chronological order, examining them through the biographies of well-known Buddhist teachers. In Tibetan, this work is called rGya gar chos'byun, which means "The History of Buddhism in India." However, the short title is dGos 'dod kun'byu, literally - "The Treasure that Fulfills Wishes." Thus, according to Tarañtha, this composition grants a blessing that leads to the fulfillment of any desires.
