In the Editor's Laboratory

One of the most important books dedicated to the literary Russian language and its stylistics is the work "In the Editor's Laboratory" by Lydia Chukovskaya (1907-1996), a Russian prose writer and poetess.
The writer shares her experience working in the editorial office of Detgiz—her memoirs intertwine literary portraits of great contemporary writers, as well as the principles of editorial work and censorship, which was so widespread during the Soviet era.
"In the Editor's Laboratory" is neither a textbook nor a guide to editing. It is the product of many years of labor by the writer, who summarized her experience gained over three decades of literary work.
