Gypsy Tales
At the bottom of deep rivers hide the evil Nivashi – water spirits with fiery red hair, long beards, and horse hooves. There is no greater joy for a Nivashi than to seize a person, extract their soul, and place it in a pot.
This collection includes beliefs and tales of the Gypsies, gathered by Nikolai Albertovich Kun (1877 – 1940) – the author of the well-known books "Legends and Myths of Ancient Greece," "Tales of the Peoples of Africa." The text is complemented by illustrations by L. M. Alekseevskaya, which were included in the 1922 edition.
